STRUCTURAL ANALYSIS

For vessel or equipment design and marine operations

COMPLEX DESIGNS OR OPERATIONS REQUIRE THOROUGH ANALYSES

Vuyk combines its large structural experience with knowledge in vessel and equipment design and marine operations engineering. When required hydrodynamic analyses, vessel, equipment or operational design aspects are included in the structural design.

Example scope include:
  • Global hull analyses (yield & buckling checks)
  • Analyses for integration of structures on vessels
  • Structural studies related global or local damage
  • Fatigue analyses
  • Thermal and vibrational analysis

TOOLS AND SETTINGS TO SUIT THE PURPOSE

Vuyk uses ANSYS, Rfem and Krasta for FE analysis. Where required, these tools are combined with 3D diffraction (AQWA) or simulation software (Orcaflex) for load determination. Structural calculations – buckling, fatigue, welds etc - are performed with in-house developed tools. Vuyk is constantly improving and updating their knowledge and tools in order to yield good and fast results for its client needs.

Vuyk uses the above tools to tackle numerous problems on a daily basis, and has practical experience with their capabilities. Furthermore, Vuyk does not hesitate to stretch these capabilities to the absolute limit.
